Vladimir Ivanovich Savchenko
Vladimir Ivanovich Savchenko ( Russian Владимир Иванович Савченко , Ukrainian Володимир Іванович Савченко Volodymyr Iwanowytsch Savchenko , born on 15. February 1933 in Poltava , USSR , died on 19th January 2005 in Kiev , Ukraine ) was a Soviet-Ukrainian science fiction -author.
Life
Savchenko studied physics at Energetic Institute in Moscow and then worked as an electronics engineer in the field of semiconductor technology. From the end of the 1950s he began to publish science fiction, in 1960 two volumes appeared with collected stories, including the volume Чёрные звёзды (in German: "Black Stars") with the stories Where are you, Ilyin? and Professor Bern's resurrection .
Savchenko is assigned to the hard SF , i.e. the scientifically and technically justified science fiction. This also applies to his best-known work, the 1967 novel Открытие себя, in German translation as Das dreifache Ich , which deals with the creation of a superman.
In 2003 Savchenko received the Aelita Prize for life's work. He died in Kiev in 2005 at the age of 71.
