Vladimir Vasilyevich Simonov

Wladimir Wassiljewitsch Simonow ( Russian Владимир Васильевич Симонов ; born August 17, 1935 in Kovrov , Vladimir Oblast , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ; † May 6, 2020 in Podolsk , Moscow Oblast , Russia ) was a Soviet, then Russian engineer and inventor .

Life

Simonov attended the Podolsk Industrial Technical Center and the Moscow Radiomechanical Technical Center. In 1964 he completed a degree in mechanical engineering at the Polytechnic Distance Institute in Moscow. He worked as an engineer in the armaments factory Tulski Oruscheiny Sawod . He played a key role in developing the APS underwater assault rifle and the SPP-1 underwater pistol . For his work he was awarded the honorary title of Honored Inventor of Russia .
