Vladimir Vladimirovich Kotenev

Wladimir Wladimirowitsch Kotenjow ( Russian Владимир Владимирович Котенёв ; born July 18, 1957 in Moscow ) is a Russian diplomat . From April 2004 to June 2010 he was the Russian ambassador to Germany. From July 2010 to May 31, 2011, Kotenjow was Managing Director of Gazprom Germania .

Life

His father was already in the diplomatic service, so that Kotenjow grew up in New Delhi for four years . He studied at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations . Here he met his fellow student and today's wife Maria. She studied economics at the same institute. In 1977 Kotenjow was in Germany for the first time. Among other things, he visited Dresden as a student in an exchange program. He was also able to visit London twice.

From 1979 to 1984 Kotenjow worked in the Soviet consulate in Berlin-Dahlem . He was then transferred to East Berlin as a diplomat. He worked there until 1986. Before he was appointed Russian Ambassador to Germany, he had held the post of Director of the Consular Section of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

He and his wife Maria have a daughter and a son.

Kotenjow is a supporter of the Germany-Russia Association - The New Generation , whose board of trustees is his wife Maria.
