Vladimir Vasyutin ( Russian Владимир Владимирович Васютин ., Scientific transliteration Vladimir Vladimirovič Vasjutin * 8. March 1952 in Kharkov , Ukrainian SSR ; † 19th July 2002 ) was a pilot and former Soviet cosmonaut of Ukrainian nationality .

Life

Vladimir Vasyutin attended the Air Force College in Chuguev , where he successfully graduated in 1973. After the pilot with parachute training was selected as a cosmonaut in 1976, he began basic training for OKP cosmonauts on August 23, 1976 , which he was able to complete on January 30, 1979 after being taken over by the Yuri Gagarin cosmonaut training center on December 1, 1978. After Vasyutin graduated from the Air Force Military Academy "JA Gagarin" in Monino in 1980 , the pilot flew into space in 1985 as the commander of the fourth regular crew of Salyut 7 with a Soyuz T-14 . There he carried out military experiments in the TKS spaceship . Wasjutin's health deteriorated so much during his stay on board the Salyut 7 that he had to be evacuated to earth prematurely on the 62nd day of the mission. On February 25, 1986 Vasyutin resigned from the cosmonaut corps for medical reasons.

Wasjutin became a lecturer and deputy director of a department at the Air Force Military Academy "JA Gagarin" in Monino. In 1990, the pilot achieved the title of candidate in military science , he completed his academic training at the General Staff Academy in 1995.

Vladimir Vasyutin died on July 19, 2002 of complications from cancer .

Wasjutin was married and had two children.
