history

On October 18, 1990, the first edition of WochenSpiegel appeared in Chemnitz as a product of the Kölnische Rundschau . The production took place in the former Platanenstrasse (today Marianne-Brandt-Strasse) on the Kaßberg . In 1993/1994, the advertising paper expanded with its own offices in Zwickau , Plauen and Jena . In 1994, WochenSpiegel was sold to Werbe- und Informationsblatt GmbH & Co. Verlag KG Suhl . During this time, the appearance of the title head changed from the color blue to red. In 1996 the independent WochenSpiegel Sachsen Verlag was founded with a new company headquarters in Heinrich-Lorenz-Straße in Chemnitz. During the same period, she was accepted into the WVD media group in Chemnitz. In cooperation with the publishing company Bergstraße Aue, which also belonged to the WVD media group, new branches were opened, especially in the Ore Mountains . In 2005, the Dresden printing and publishing house (DD + V, parent company of Sächsische Zeitung , Döbelner Anzeiger and Morgenpost Sachsen ) bought 50% of WochenSpiegel Sachsen Verlag, which is now the second largest publisher in Chemnitz. In 2008 the WVD media group was completely taken over by DD + V. The publishing company Bergstrasse Aue took over the previous owners of the WVD media group. At the turn of the year 2013/2014, DD + V sold its shares in the WVD media group to the Weiss group and Chemnitzer Verlag und Druck GmbH & Co KG, the parent company of Freie Presse . DD + V retained a 25% stake in the WVD subsidiary WochenSpiegel Verlag (main product Wochen Spiegel Sachsen); the remaining shares were held by the Weiss Group. The WochenSpiegel Sachsen was discontinued on July 16, 2014. This was justified by the owner with the recently by the Bundestag and Bundesrat approved the introduction of a minimum wage for Paperboy. The WochenSpiegel Erzgebirge continues to appear.
