The Wohnhof Am Unterbarmer Friedhof is a housing estate in the Barmen district in the Bergisch city ​​of Wuppertal in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Building description

The residential courtyard Am Unterbarmer Friedhof is located in the district of Barmen in the residential district of Kothen and consists of three buildings, mainly the apartment block Am Unterbarmer Friedhof 40-50 (each with the even house numbers ). The block of flats will be surrounded by the side streets of Wernerstraße and Fuchsstraße , which branch off from Am Unterbarmer Friedhof to the southeast. A settlement house was built in both streets.

The four-storey block of flats Am Unterbarmer Friedhof 40–50 has a horizontally structured clinker brick / plaster facade. This design feature is continued in the housing developments at Wernerstraße 13 and Fuchsstraße 18, whereby these buildings have been designed with three storeys in consideration of the topography of the hillside location. The two stairwells with clinker facade give houses 44 and 46 a vertical emphasis. The greater emphasis on the stairwell with a medium risalit was also implemented in the case of the house at Fuchsstrasse 18 on the front side. In the areas of the flat central projectile , the flat roof was set off with a higher tiered eaves cornice .

The housing estate, which was built in the years 1929–1930 by the Wuppertaler Bau- und Sparverein according to a uniform overall design typical for residential complexes of the 1920s, took up current forms of Berlin buildings.

On September 19, 1984, the residential courtyard was recognized as a historical monument and the buildings of the apartment block Am Unterbarmer Friedhof 40-50 , Wernerstraße 13 and Fuchsstraße 18 were entered in the list of monuments of the city of Wuppertal.
