Grundstrasse residential courtyard
The Grundstraße residential courtyard is a housing estate in the Langerfeld district in the east of the Bergisch city of Wuppertal in North Rhine-Westphalia .
Building description
The Wohnhof basic road is located in the urban district Langer field Beyenburg in residential district Jesinghauser road and consists of three buildings, the U-shape are arranged. The two sides of the courtyard form the apartment blocks Grundstrasse 4, 6, 8 and 10 and the apartment block Grundstrasse 14, 16, 18 and 20. The end is the single, four-storey apartment building Grundstrasse 12 with a square floor plan. The three-story apartment blocks are structured on the plastered facade by horizontal parapet cornices. The hipped roofs are provided with continuous dormer bands. The U-shaped ensemble of buildings opens up towards Grundstrasse in a north-northeast direction, and the Elberfeld – Dortmund railway line connects to the south .

The housing estate was built between 1925 and 1927 by the Barmen Building Department (Langerfeld was incorporated into Barmen in 1922) according to a uniform overall design that is typical for non-profit housing complexes of the 1920s.
On November 15, 1985, the residential courtyard was recognized as a historical building and the buildings Grundstrasse 4, 6, 8 and 10, Grundstrasse 14, 16, 18 and 20. and Grundstrasse 12. each entered the monument list of the city of Wuppertal under their own monument number . In addition to the buildings, the protected position also extends to the fencing with an open arched gate made of plastered masonry between the houses at Grundstrasse 10 and 12.
