Live and act

Wolf-Hendrik Beyer began his career at LG Hilden, but shortly afterwards switched to LG Bayer Leverkusen , where he stayed until the end of his career. Training partners like Carlo Thränhardt and Heike Henkel and especially his trainer Gerd Osenberg helped him to a successful career.

At the German Championships in Munich in 1992, which was also the qualifying competition for participation in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Beyer and Ralf Sonn prevailed over Dietmar Mögenburg and Carlo Thränhardt with 2.32 m each . Sonn, Beyer and Mögenburg were nominated for the 1992 Olympic Games.

In 1994 Beyer reached third place at the European Indoor Championships in Paris with a jump of 2.33 m and jumped his personal indoor record of 2.38 m at the high jump meeting in Weinheim. This achievement is still the German indoor junior record (U23) and fourth place in the all-time German indoor best list. Beyer achieved his best outdoor result at the German Championships in 1993 in the Wedaustadion in Duisburg with a jump of 2.33 m. This puts him in ninth place in the all-time German best list.

Beyer ended his career in 1996 because he himself had the feeling that he had achieved what he could with the 2.38 meters jumped. With a height of 2.00 meters, his competition weight was 89 kilograms.

In 2006 Beyer tried a comeback. At the end of 2006, he began advanced training with his former trainer Gerd Osenberg in Leverkusen, until a meniscus tear in his right knee forced him to finally end his high jump career in September 2007 .

Beyer has been married since 2006 and has one son. He is the godfather of “SMS. Be clever. Take part. Be fit. ” , An initiative of the German Diabetes Center in Düsseldorf.
