Wolfgang Bender (theologian)

Wolfgang Bender (born March 25, 1931 in Frankfurt-Höchst ; † July 15, 2017 ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

From 1951 he studied philosophy and theology at the PTH Sankt Georgen and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome . He was ordained a priest in 1956. He graduated from theology in 1957. In 1959 he received his doctorate in theology in Munich . From 1959 to 1962 he was active in pastoral care. From 1962 to 1972 student and university pastor at the Goethe University . From 1972 to 1974 he was a research assistant in the Department of Religious Studies at Goethe University. After the laicisation in 1973, he married in 1974. From 1974 to 1996 he taught as an academic councilor in the department of social and historical sciences at the TU Darmstadt , where he became honorary professor in 1997 .

His areas of work were ethical judgment formation, peace ethics , prospective technology assessment, bioethics , in particular genetic ethics and ethics teaching .
