Dave Mullins (* before 1994) is an American animator who received an Oscar nomination for his directorial debut .

Career

Dave Mullins began working on the film staff in 1994 , for example on the television series Thunder in Paradise , with Hulk Hogan in the lead role. In 1998 he was the animator for the adventure film My Big Friend Joe, starring Charlize Theron and Bill Paxton . The following year he worked on a cartoon for the first time, this was the 38th full-length cartoon by Walt Disney Fantasia 2000 . Since 2001 he has worked on Pixar films such as Die Monster AG , Finding Nemo , Die Incredibles , Cars and the two sequels, Ratatouille , Above , Merida - Legend of the Highlands , Everything is upside down and Coco - Alive Than The life! , all of which have received nominations and awards at various Academy Awards .

Since 2005 he has also worked on short films , such as Die Ein-Mann-Band or Hook and das Geisterlich . Since then he has always expressed the desire to direct a short film himself. John Lasseter granted him this wish in 2012. For his short film Lou , which was then released in 2017 , he and Dana Murray received an Oscar nomination in the category “ Best Animated Short ” at the 2018 Academy Awards . However, the Academy Awards went to Glen Keane and Kobe Bryant for their short film Dear Basketball , which shows Bryant's childhood dreams through to his 20-year career.
