Wolfgang Bier (lawyer)

Wolfgang Bier (born in Koblenz in 1955 ) is a German lawyer and presiding judge of the 9th Appeal Senate at the Federal Administrative Court .

Life

Wolfgang Bier was born in Koblenz in 1955. He did his military service and began law study. In 1981 he passed the first state examination in Cologne and the second state examination in Düsseldorf in 1983 . At the end of 1983 he was appointed judge on probation and briefly worked as a research assistant at the Higher Administrative Court of Rhineland-Palatinate in his native city of Koblenz. From March 1984 to 1991 he was a judge at the Neustadt an der Weinstrasse administrative court . During this time he wrote his doctoral thesis, which he completed in 1987 with a doctorate at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . In the same year he was appointed judge for life.

In September 1991 Bier moved to the Higher Administrative Court of Rhineland-Palatinate , where in October 2000 he was appointed presiding judge at the Higher Administrative Court .

From 1989 to 1991 Bier was seconded as a research assistant to the Federal Administrative Court and from November 2000 to the end of 2001, half of his working time was seconded to the Constitutional Court of Rhineland-Palatinate . He was also a long-term part-time member of the state examination office for lawyers at the Ministry of Justice Rhineland-Palatinate in Mainz .

Since July 1, 2005, Wolfgang Bier has been working at the Federal Administrative Court, initially in the 6th Revision Senate . Since May 2011 he was also the press spokesman for the Federal Administrative Court and previously deputy press spokesman for several years.

On November 11, 2014, Bier took over the chairmanship of the 9th Revision Senate of the Federal Administrative Court by being appointed presiding judge at the Federal Administrative Court .

Bier is co-author of a legal commentary on the administrative court order .
