Wolfgang Burmann
Wolfgang Burmann Sánchez (born June 19, 1940 in Madrid ) is a Spanish film architect .
Life
The son of the painter and film architect Sigfrido Burmann and a Baskin received his artistic training in his hometown of Madrid and began as a draftsman and set designer in the theater and film. From 1957 to 1962 he gained practical experience as his father's assistant. During this time he worked for example in 1960 on Sergio Leone's ancient epic “ The Colossus of Rhodes ”. Burmann later worked as an outfitter such as B. 1962 with "Vuelve San Valentín" and architectural assistant as for example 1963 with the German-Spanish thriller " The secret of the black widow ".
Since 1963 he has worked as a film architect on an abundance of entertainment films, initially mainly B-productions of the type Django speaks no Our Father and a major attack by zombies . It was not until the mid-1980s that commissions for ambitious and higher-quality productions followed, including “ Remando al viento”, “ Open your eyes ”, “ Tesis - The Snuff Film ” and “ El grito en el cielo ”. Since 1986 Wolfgang Burmann had been nominated several times for Spain's most important film award, the Goya , which he finally received in 1988 for his work on “ Remando al viento ”.
After his last Goya nomination in 2007 (for “ Oviedo Express ”), Wolfgang Burmann retired into private life. Burmann has also designed the sets for a number of Spanish television series. His brother is the cameraman Hans Burmann , who is three years his senior .
