Wolfgang Erdmann

Wolfgang Erdmann (born May 13, 1945 in Walsrode ; † January 15, 2003 in Königstein im Taunus ) was a German art historian and non-fiction author .

Life

Wolfgang Erdmann studied art history, prehistory, Christian archeology and church history between 1966 and 1968 at the University of Tübingen and between 1968 and 1970 at the University of Freiburg .

After graduating, he worked in the preservation of monuments in Freiburg and carried out archaeological emergency excavations in churches when the buildings were being renovated or equipped with heating. In 1970 he took over the management of the excavations in the Church of St. Peter and Paul on the Lake Constance island of Reichenau . Between 1976 and 1989 he worked in the Collaborative Research Center 17 (Scandinavia and Baltic Sea Region Research ) at the University of Lübeck and assigned to the Office for Prehistory and Protohistory (Archaeological Monument Preservation) of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck . Since 1989 he has lived as a freelance author in Königstein im Taunus and worked for the Langewiesche publishing house .

As part of the series The Blue Books of the publishing Langewiesche wrote Erdmann, among other non-fiction books about the Cistercian -Klöster Chorin and Doberan as well as the Cathedral of St. Boniface in Hameln .
