Wolfgang Faßbender (* 1968 ) is a freelance journalist who mainly publishes on food and drink.

Life

Wolfgang Faßbender is a trained librarian , worked temporarily as a cook and writes on behalf of specialist journals, daily newspapers and book publishers. He is a restaurant tester in German-speaking countries and publishes on culinary topics, especially as a restaurant critic and gastro columnist, but also writes about the wines of Germany, Alsace, South Africa, France and Switzerland. He is a member of an internet community of wine connoisseurs. He publishes his viewpoints on his blog . He also writes a gastronomic blog for the NZZ .

Wolfgang Faßbender was deputy editor-in-chief of the Bertelsmann restaurant guide and has published around 85 books on restaurants, wine and travel topics as an author, co-author or editor. Among them are the titles 50 things you should know about going to a restaurant , The best 400 winemakers in Switzerland , The wines of Alsace or In the wine lies a lie , but also The Wines of South Africa or Cabernet Sauvignon and the Swiss Cheese Guide . He contributed several chapters to the standard work on wine , and was editor of numerous restaurant guides (Alsace, Palatinate, Lake Constance, etc.) for Meininger-Verlag. Wolfgang Faßbender publishes articles, columns and restaurant reviews in newspapers and magazines such as NZZ , NZZ am Sonntag , Journal Culinaire , Cigar , Weinwelt , marmite , Schweizerische Weinzeitung , Weinwirtschaft , Salz & Pfeffer , Welt , Welt am Sonntag , Sommelier-Magazin , AHGZ and others . 2015 Faßbender next was Dieter Müller and Thomas Bühner juror at Anuga Competition Chef of the Year .

Wolfgang Faßbender lives in a rural suburb of Burscheid in the Bergisches Land and near Zurich . Together with colleagues, he runs a vineyard on the Moselle that specializes in Riesling from steep slopes.
