Wolfgang Friedrich von Schenck

Wolfgang Friedrich Philipp Heinrich von Schenck (born March 27, 1768 in Siegen , † January 10, 1848 ibid) was a Prussian administrative lawyer and the first district administrator of the Siegen district .

family

Wolfgang Friedrich was the son from the marriage of the Nassau judicial councilor and bailiff Ludwig Adolf von Schenck (1738–1816) and Anna Elisabeth born. Rückert. His family was an old nassau-siegensche, evangelical civil servant family, who were ennobled in 1775 ( imperial nobility ).

He married on March 10, 1800 in Rastatt with Maria Franziska Elisabeth Rochlitz (1780–1837), daughter of a grand ducal councilor of the Baden Chamber of Accounts; from the marriage there were three sons and three daughters.

Life

Wolfgang Friedrich von Schenck studied law at the universities of Herborn and Marburg from 1784 . From 1789 he worked as a government secretary in Dillenburg . In 1801 he became a judicial and consistorial councilor and chairman of the sub-directorate for the Principality of Nassau-Siegen . In 1804 he was appointed a councilor and removed from this office in 1809. From 1811 he was Vice-President of the Tribunal in Dillenburg. In 1813 he was again head of the sub-directorate or district director of Siegen.

In 1816 he took over provisionally, then finally in 1817 the district administration in Siegen and was therefore the first Prussian district administrator. He held this until the end of his tenure and retirement in 1846.

Act

Wolfgang Friedrich von Schenck is associated with the incorporation of the Siegerland into Prussia and initiatives on the regulation for the administration of mining, smelting and hammering in 1819, smelting and hammering regulation 1830, Haubergs regulation 1834, 1846 meadow regulation.
