Wolfgang Getrost (born May 28, 1951 ) is a former German soccer player .

Athletic career

Confidently comes from the youth of FC Germania Friedrichsfeld and VfR Mannheim . He was under contract with SV Röchling Völklingen in the 1970s , where he was substitute goalkeeper behind Jürgen Stars for most of the time . In the 1: 3 away defeat against SV Darmstadt 98 , he came on March 5, 1976 for his only appearance in the 2nd Bundesliga . He later returned to VfR Mannheim and played temporarily for SG Kirchheim / Heidelberg in the Baden Association League , before moving again to VfR Mannheim in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg in 1980 . Initially a regular goalkeeper, he lost out to newcomer Peter Gadinger in 1982 under the newly signed coach Rudi Dielmann . He then left the club in the summer of 1983 in the direction of FV 03 Ladenburg , but came back to the league in 1987 through the association league clubs SV Neckargerach and SV 98 Schwetzingen and was under coach Reinhold Fanz in the Kades of FV Weinheim . Under player-coach Stephan Groß , he made 15 appearances in the league in the 1987/88 season , as a champion he qualified with the club for the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga. There he was in goal in all six games against 1. FSV Mainz 05 , Viktoria Aschaffenburg and SpVgg Unterhaching , with just one win the team clearly missed promotion as the group bottom. In the following season he moved behind the goalkeeper from Karlsruher SC signed Stefan Wimmer and self-grown Matthias Arnold again and was one of four players in this position with three season appearances.

In the spring of 1990, Getrost temporarily took over as the successor to the dismissed Horst-Dieter Strich as coach at FV Weinheim, who was in danger of relegation, for whom he had played two games during the season. For the last three games, teammate Siegmund Olscha was once again a player- coach on the sidelines. He later worked as a scout for SV Sandhausen , which he left in the summer of 2013 for Holstein Kiel .
