Wolfgang Gibowski

Wolfgang G. Gibowski (born March 20, 1942 in Mannheim ) is a German political scientist and former political official . He conducted research in the field of empirical social research and political sociology .

Life

Gibowski studied economics and political science at the Universities of Heidelberg and Mannheim from 1962 to 1967 . He completed his studies with a diploma. He then worked at the University of Mannheim until 1974 as a research assistant and assistant professor at Rudolf Wildenmann 's chair for political science , where he was involved in research projects in the field of survey research and aggregate analysis. At the same time, from 1971 he was also employed in teaching at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

In 1974 he was a co-founder of the Forschungsgruppe Wahlen e. V. (FGW), the Institute for Election Analysis and Society Observation. Together with Manfred Berger and Dieter Roth, he was the first board member of the FGW and took over the scientific management of election research at ZDF . He held this position until 1991. Helmut Kohl brought him to the Federal Press Office in 1991 as deputy head . After protracted conflicts with the head of the Federal Press Office, Peter Hausmann, and the change of government, he left the Federal Press Office in 1998. From 1999 to 2003 he worked as press spokesman for the Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” . From 2003 to 2010 he was the representative of the State of Lower Saxony at the federal government with an official seat in the representation of the State of Lower Saxony at the federal level with the rank of State Secretary . He is a lecturer at the Chair for Politics and Governance in Germany and Europe at the University of Potsdam .
