Wolfgang Häusler

Wolfgang Häusler (born May 17, 1946 in St. Pölten ) is an Austrian historian , retired university professor at the University of Vienna and a member of the Institute for Austrian Historical Research .

Life

Häusler studied history and art history at the University of Vienna from 1964 to 1970 , where he obtained a doctorate in philosophy from the Faculty of Humanities sub auspiciis in 1970 . In 1978 he completed his habilitation with the thesis: From Pauperism to the Labor Movement. Democracy and Social Issues in the Vienna Revolution of 1848 . In 1983 he became associate professor and in 1984 full professor of Austrian history at the University of Vienna. Häusler's main research interests were the history of Austria , especially Vienna and Lower Austria with a focus on the 19th century, the history of the Jews in the Habsburg monarchy , Austrian literary history and the history of education . At the end of 2003 he was retired.
