Wolfgang Hübener (prehistoric)

Wolfgang Hübener (born June 15, 1924 in Kiel ; † April 1, 2015 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German prehistorian .

After studying prehistory and early history, Hübener received his doctorate on January 14, 1952 at the University of Kiel under Ernst Sprockhoff with the thesis Die Keramik von Haithabu . For this work he received a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute in 1952/53 . On July 21, 1962, he completed his habilitation at the University of Freiburg with the work of sales areas of prehistoric pottery in the zone north of the Alps. Contributions to ceramics of the Merovingian period . From 1977 to 1989 he was a full professor of prehistory at the University of Hamburg . Since 1957 he was also a member of the Swabian Research Association .
