Wolfgang König (historian)

Wolfgang König (born January 10, 1949 in Pirmasens ) is a German technology historian .

Life

Wolfgang König was born in 1949 in Pirmasens, Rhineland-Palatinate. From 1967 he studied history, geography, sociology and political science at the Saarland University . In 1973 he took his first state examination in history and geography, and in 1976 he received his doctorate from Saarland University. From 1985 to 2014 he was professor for the history of technology at the Technical University of Berlin . He was visiting professor at the Vienna University of Technology and at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing .

He also worked on various committees of the Association of German Engineers (VDI). He is a member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) .

Wolfgang König is the editor of the Propylaea History of Technology .
