Wolfgang Kraus (born March 28, 1962 in Wiesbaden ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Kraus played from 1976 in the youth of Kickers Offenbach . He played his first ten games in the 2nd Bundesliga in 1980/81 as an amateur. Offenbach was 98 runner-up behind SV Darmstadt, but failed in the two play-offs against Eintracht Braunschweig (1: 0; 0: 2) on promotion to the Bundesliga. In the second leg on June 10, 1981 Kraus was substituted on in the second half in Braunschweig. It was not until the 1981/82 round that he was a member of the OFC team in the 2nd division. But then he was not used. The 1.80 m tall midfielder played his last five second division games in 1982/83 under coach Lothar Buchmann when Offenbach was promoted to the Bundesliga as runner -up . He made his first appearance on October 30, 1982, the 13th matchday, in a 2: 3 away defeat at Hessen Kassel. He played alongside fellow players such as Valentin Herr , Kurt Geinzer , Uwe Bein , Walter Krause , Franz Michelberger and Radomir Dubovina . However, Kraus did not make the breakthrough. In the special issue for the 1983/84 season Wolfgang Kraus is listed on page 111 as a defender of the promoted team, but in the encyclopedia of league football for the rounds 1975–1987 by Matthias Weinrich on page 277 he is not in the kickers Offenbach team for the 1983 season / 84 listed. In the special issue for the 1984/85 season he is no longer listed on page 118 in the Offenbach squad, but he is also not recorded as a departure. When exactly Wolfgang Kraus left Offenbach is not clear from the documents available.
