Prieros village church

The Protestant village church Prieros is a neo-Romanesque hall church in Prieros , a district of the municipality Heidesee in the district of Dahme-Spreewald in the state of Brandenburg . The church belongs to the parish of Zossen Fläming the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Oberlausitz .

location

The street An der Dahmebrücke leads from the northeast into the historical town center. There it spans the core as the Prieroser Dorfaue and leads south out of the place. The church stands east of this street on a property that is not fenced . Together with the other buildings, the church forms, according to the parish in a church guide, a "remarkable ensemble".

history

The building replaced a baroque half-timbered church , which had become so dilapidated in 1859 that security measures were necessary. In 1870 the parish decided to demolish the sacred building and commissioned craftsmen to build a new building between 1873 and 1875. A comprehensive renovation took place around 1982.

Building description

West portal

The structure was essentially built from yellowish bricks in a round arch style. The choir is semicircular and strongly drawn in. The five arched openings are plastered and decorated with a simple profile. On the north side is a small annex with a rectangular floor plan. At an earlier time, it could be entered from the north through a pressed-segment arched gate. However, this is also plastered in the 21st century. To the west is a small arched window. The extension has a simple saddle roof that leads to the choir. There is a semicircular window there. On the south side of the choir is a similar extension; there the gate is still preserved.

This is followed by the nave to the west . It has a rectangular floor plan and on the east wall in the gable there are two small arched openings. In the center of the gable is an added ox eye . The north and south sides of the nave are strictly structured. On each side in the lower area there are a total of five clogged arched windows, above that in the double-profiled walls there are large arched windows. At the transition to the roof is open downwards arched frieze .

The west tower has a square floor plan and is strongly drawn in opposite the ship. It can be entered from the west through a large portal; above it is an arched opening. There are two octagonal extensions to the side, each with two windows arranged one above the other. On the middle floor there is a small arched opening on each of the three accessible sides, followed by another frieze. The bell storey rises above it with a sound arcade on each side. Above the tower merges into the eight-fold kinked tower spire, which ends with a cross.

Furnishing

The baroque altar is constructed as an aedicule and consists of slender columns that support a wide entablature with triglyphs . It dates from the second half of the 17th century and shows Mary , the apostle John and Mary Magdalene under the cross on the altarpiece . According to the information in the Dehio manual, the altarpiece is “not associated” and dated to 1675. It is decorated with a coat of arms painting of the donor family and a vented gable . The rest of the church furnishings come from the construction time. The organ was created by the Berlin organ builder Wilhelm Remler .
