Wolfgang Loschelder

Wolfgang Loschelder (born July 25, 1940 in Rome ; † February 20, 2013 ) was a German administrative lawyer and state church lawyer . From 1995 to 2006 he was rector of the University of Potsdam .

Life

Wolfgang Loschelder, from a well-known Neuss family, born in Rome in 1940 and raised in Neuss in the Rhineland, was the son of the marriage of the music historian Josef Loschelder and Elisabeth, née. Hesemann. He graduated from high school in 1960 at the Quirinus Gymnasium there .

From 1960 to 1965 he studied law at the University of Bonn . After the first (1965) and second (1975) state law examinations, he received his doctorate in law in 1976 in Bonn with a thesis on the guarantee of local self-government and regional development . In 1980 he completed his habilitation in Bonn with the text From a special relationship of violence to a special bond under public law .

In 1981 Loschelder was appointed to the chair for public law , in particular administrative law and administrative theory , at the Ruhr University in Bochum .

In October 1991 he took on a substitute professorship at the University of Potsdam and in May 1992 moved to the chair of administrative law, administrative procedural law and environmental law . He built up the law faculty there with Rolf Grawert . From March 1993 to March 1994 Loschelder was Dean of the Faculty of Law and from March 1994 to September 1995 he was Vice-Rector responsible for development planning and finances at the university. Finally, on October 1, 1995, he took over as rector of the university; In 1999 he was re-elected. After the end of his second term, he resigned on December 31, 2006 from this office.

He was married to Christiane Brückner since 1967. His son Friedrich is a lawyer.

Act

The religious studies commitment of the Catholic Loschelder was recognized by all sides. He pushed through the establishment of the institutes for Protestant and Catholic church law and laid the foundation stone for Jewish theological training in Potsdam.
