Wolfgang Ludwig von Grünthal

Wolfgang Ludwig Freiherr von Grünthal (born March 6, 1659 Regensburg ; † December 23, 1726 ) was a nobleman, treasurer and court war councilor of Baaden-Durlach and vice-commander of Pforzheim .

Life

Wolfgang Ludwig was the son of Ludwig Freiherr von Grünthal (1624–1668) and Elisabeth Kölbl von Geissing. Wolfgang Ludwig was a soldier from a young age, fighting first against the Turks in Hungary and then against France in Germany. For 24 years he was first captain, Vice-Commandant of Pforzheim and three times captured by the French in the Baaden-Durlach Regiment . He was chamberlain and court war advisor to Friedrich VII. Magnus von Baden-Durlach . On February 18, 1695, Baron von Grünthal was accepted into the knightly canton of Neckar-Black Forest . He was on June 23, 1717 by Margrave Karl III. Wilhelm was awarded the House Order of Loyalty .

Wolfgang Ludwig Freiherr von Grünthal zu Eglstall, Mühlen and Neunhausen was lord of Dietach Castle ( Schleissheim ), Ottsdorf Castle ( Thalheim near Wels ), Achleiten Castle ( Kematen an der Krems ) and Mühlen am Neckar . He married Maria Catharina Megenzer von Velldorf , with whom he had three daughters and a son, Friedrich Ludwig.
