Wolfgang Süss (also Wolfgang Süss; born April 2, 1934 in Osterhausen ) is a former German politician ( SED , PDS ). From 1990 to 2002 he was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt and in 1990 the last chairman of the council of the Halle district .

Live and act

Wolfgang Süß graduated from high school in 1952 with the Abitur. From 1953 to 1958 he studied at the Bergakademie Freiberg and became a qualified engineer for metallurgy. In 1980 he received his doctorate with a thesis on aluminum recycling .

He started his professional career from 1958 to 1961 as a production engineer at the Hettstedt rolling mill. From 1961 to 1964 he was head of the technology department of the Association of Nationally Owned Enterprises Non-Ferrous Metal Industry, from 1964 to 1965 foundry manager in the Hettstedt rolling mill and from 1965 to 1971 works director in the Rackwitz light metal works. From 1971 to 1980 Suss was the deputy production director in the Mansfeld combine and from 1974 to 1980 he was also the chairman of the combined activity of the Chamber of Technology .

Süß became a member of the SED in 1961, was a member of the SED district leadership in Delitzsch from 1966 to 1971, in 1980 a member of the SED district leadership of the Mansfeld Combine and from February 1981 to 1989 a member of the SED district leadership in Halle. From 1979 to 1980 he was a member of the Eisleben district assembly and from June 1981 to 1990 a member of the Halle district assembly . In addition, from 1980 to 1989 he was chairman of the economic council of the Halle district and from September 1980 deputy chairman of the council of the Halle district for district-managed industry and food industry (successor to Wilfried Deumer). On January 11, 1990, he was elected the last chairman of the Halle district council.

He was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt from 1990 to 2002. In the first electoral term he was deputy chairman of the committee for economy, technology and transport - drawn into the state parliament via the state list. In 1994 he won a state parliament mandate in constituency 40 (Hall III) and became a member of the Committee for Economics and Technology as well as working group leader for Economics and Technology, Agriculture, Finance of the PDS parliamentary group. He was re-elected to the third state parliament via the state list. He became a member of the Council of Elders , a member of the Committee for Economics, Technology and European Affairs and of the Study Commission “Sustainable Saxony-Anhalt”.

Süß is non-denominational, married and has two children.
