Helmut Klapproth

Helmut Walter Klapproth (born March 9, 1928 in Dessau , † February 20, 2011 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German politician ( SED ). He was Lord Mayor of Dessau and Chairman of the Council of the Halle (Saale) district .

Life

The son of a carpenter completed an apprenticeship as a bricklayer from 1945 to 1947 after attending elementary and middle school . Between 1947 and 1949 he attended the workers and farmers faculty in Halle (Saale) . In 1947 he joined the SED. From 1949 to 1953 he studied economics at the University of Halle and at the Berlin School of Economics . He graduated with a degree in economics. In 1953/54 he was deputy head of the planning department at VEB Polysius Dessau.

From 1954 he held managerial positions in Dessau: from 1954 to 1956 he was secretary for economics at the SED district leadership in Dessau, from 1956 to 1958 he was director for work at Waggonbau Dessau and from 1958 to 1961 he was deputy mayor and chairman the planning commission in the council of the city of Dessau. As the successor to Maria Dank , he was Lord Mayor of Dessau from 1961 to 1963. In August 1963 he moved to Halle (Saale) and worked until February 1966 as first deputy chairman of the council of the Halle district. From May 4, 1966 to February 7, 1984 he was chairman of the council. From 1963 he was a member of the Halle (Saale) district assembly and from 1966 as a member of the secretariat of the SED district leadership in Halle (Saale). From February 12, 1984 to November 11, 1989 he was finally chairman of the Halle District Party Control Commission of the SED.

At the beginning of 1990 Klapproth was excluded from the SED-PDS.
