Wolfgang Schepp

Wolfgang Schepp (born September 23, 1955 in Aachen ) is a German internist and gastroenterologist .

Life

After graduating from high school at the humanistic Kaiser-Karls-Gymnasium in Aachen , Schepp studied human medicine at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn from 1975 to 1981 with a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation . There he received his doctorate in 1981 , Dr. med.

1981–1982 Schepp worked as a training fellow from the German Research Foundation at the Institute for Pharmacology at the University of Tübingen . He was trained as an internist from 1983 to 1984 at the Medical Polyclinic of the University of Bonn , from 1985 to 1988 at the 2nd Medical Clinic and Polyclinic of the Technical University of Munich ( Klinikum rechts der Isar ). There he completed his habilitation in 1988.

After a research stay in 1989 at the University of California at Los Angeles , Schepp returned to the 2nd Medical Clinic and Polyclinic of the Technical University of Munich. After being recognized as a gastroenterologist, he was appointed senior physician at the 2nd Medical Clinic and Polyclinic of the Technical University of Munich in 1990. In 1993, he was appointed Extraordinary Professor early in their Faculty of Medicine, and in 1997 he was appointed C3 Professor aL for Gastroenterology .

In 1997, he took over the management of the Clinic for Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Gastroenterological Oncology at the Bogenhausen Clinic (Städtisches Klinikum München GmbH; Academic Teaching Hospital of the Technical University of Munich) as chief physician . From 2002 to 2006 Schepp was the medical director of the house. Since 2007 he has headed the Certified Colon Cancer Center of the German Cancer Society at the Bogenhausen Clinic.

Schepp conducts research on acid-associated diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract, Helicobacter pylori gastritis and malignant diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
