Wolfgang Seligo (born December 7, 1968 in Vienna ) is an Austrian jazz pianist and music producer. He himself described his performances as alternative jazz and understands it as a mixture of jazz, modern classical, ethno and punk .

Live and act

After studying jazz in Vienna , Seligo gained experience as a composer, producer and musician for soul music , media music (television / radio) and world music ( Ziryab together with Dhafer Youssef ). In addition to his jazz performances on the piano in duets (e.g. with singer Ramona Steiner and cellist Rina Kacinari) or as a soloist, he founded the Seligo Jazz Quartet in early 2004 . He played with it and as a solo artist in concerts at home and abroad (e.g. Morocco, USA). In addition to appearances at international festivals and in clubs, there were also performances in unusual locations: on Red Square in Moscow, in the Forbidden City in Beijing, in African cultural centers. He also had concert tours in the USA.

Subsequent to the solo CD Alternative Jazz Piano (2009), an identical volume of music for up to 4 pianos was released, which was premiered in the Steinway Gallery in Salzburg with several pianists. Since 2013 Seligo has also played in a trio (Peter Strutzenberger, Heimo Wiederhofer and Karl Sayer ).

Since 2008 he has also been a lecturer at the Vienna Music Institute Conservatory .
