Wolfgang Sternstein (born March 12, 1939 in Braunschweig ) is a German peace and conflict researcher and author .

Career

The son of a graduate engineer and passionate, strict National Socialist suffered from a violent upbringing. During his school days he got to know the ideas and texts of Søren Kierkegaard , Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King and, according to his own statement, wanted to contribute to overcoming violence and war. After completing his studies in Tübingen and Frankfurt am Main, he was sent to the protests against the Baden nuclear power plant in 1975 as part of a research project , and it was here that he came into practical contact with nonviolent actions for the first time , which he accompanied scientifically, journalistically and activistically from then on.

The main focus of his political work is the anti-nuclear and peace movement . In the course of his life he participated in more than fifty nonviolent acts, which resulted in a total of 14 months in prison for refusing to pay fines.

From 1976 to 1980 and 1982 to 1984, Sternstein was a member of the board of directors of the Federal Association of Citizens' Initiatives Environmental Protection and founded the Institute for Environmental Science and Rights of Life in 1979 (according to the Stuttgart District Court, VR 3406, the sponsoring association was registered in 1978), on which he has been working since at least 1980.
