Wolfgang Webner (born April 23, 1937 in Breslau ) is a former volleyball player from the GDR .

Webner started out as a table tennis player and only switched to volleyball in 1955. In 1957 he was delegated to SC Dynamo Berlin , with which he won the GDR championship in 1961 and from 1962 to 1971 took second place behind SC Leipzig .

With his move to Berlin in 1957, Webner was accepted into the circle of the GDR national team. From the 1960s he was a member of the tribe six. From 1966 Webner reached a place among the best four teams with the GDR selection until 1972 in all major tournaments. In 1969 he won the Volleyball World Cup and the following year he was there when the GDR team won the title at the 1970 World Cup in Bulgaria. After a fourth place at the European Championships in 1971 , the GDR team reached the final at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and received the silver medal after the final defeat against the Japanese team .

Webner was a captain in the People's Police and worked as a trainer at DC Dynamo. After the fall of the Wall , he was retired due to health problems.
