Wolfgang Wiester

Wolfgang Wiester (* February 2, 1936 ; † December 15, 2016 ) was presiding judge at the German Federal Social Court from 1995 to 2001 .

Life

After completing his legal training, Wiester entered the higher judicial service of the State of Hesse in 1966 and was seconded to the Federal Social Court in the same year. During the time of his secondment, he was promoted to the senior government council.

From 1970 Wiester worked as a judge at the Kassel Social Court , and from 1976 at the Hessian Regional Social Court .

In 1984 Wiester was appointed judge at the Federal Social Court. From 1995 until his retirement in 2001, he held the office of presiding judge and presided over the 8th and 10th Senate of the Federal Social Court.

After leaving the judge's office, Wiester continued to work as a commentator in the field of statutory accident insurance and on the formulation of the “Principles of the Central Association of German Statutory Accident Insurance for Assessments of Occupational Diseases ”.
