Wolfgang Zinggl (born December 12, 1954 in Vienna ) is an Austrian cultural scientist , artist , politician ( NOW , previously List Pilz or Die Grünen ). From July 2004 to October 2019 he was a member of the National Council and, from June 1, 2018, he was the executive club chairman of NOWT in the National Council.

Life

School education and study

Between 1961 and 1965, Wolfgang Zinggl attended an elementary school in Vienna and the primary school St. Paul (USA). From 1965 to 1974 he attended the Federal High School Vienna 9 and trained at the TGM . After graduating from high school in 1974, Zinggl began his studies at the University of Applied Arts Vienna , which he obtained in 1979 with the title Mag. Art. completed. Between 1982 and 1988 Zinggl then pursued his studies in psychology and ethnology at the University of Vienna , which he obtained with the title of Dr. phil. finished.

Artistic and scientific career

After completing his studies, Zinggl started working as a freelance artist in 1979. From 1989 he was also an art critic for Falter magazine (until 1995). He also held teaching positions at various universities between 1989 and 2003 and founded the action-oriented art group WochenKlausur in 1993 .

After his visiting professor at the University of Applied Arts (1995–1996), Zinggl became Federal Curator for Fine Arts between 1997 and 2000 and headed the depot from 1997 to 2004 .

Political career

Zinggl began his political career between 2001 and 2004 as an ORF board member for the Greens. In 2004 Zinggl became a member of the National Council after Kurt Grünewald had received the vacated mandate from Eva Lichtenberger in regional constituency 7 (Tyrol) and Wolfgang Zinggl received the vacant mandate of the federal party list. Zinggl was culture spokesman and minority spokesman for the Greens. In the National Council election campaign in 2005, Zinggl led a personality campaign for the basic mandate in the Vienna Inner-West constituency, which he missed. However, after counting the ballot card votes for the 21st Green Party, Zinggl was still able to enter the National Council.

On July 28, 2017, his move to List Peter Pilz was announced. After the Pilz list made it into the National Council in the 2017 National Council election in Austria , Zinggl became a member of the Pilz list on November 9, 2017, as the area spokesman for culture. After the resignation of Peter Kolba , Zinggl was appointed on June 1, 2018, together with Bruno Rossmann, as managing club chairman of the Pilz list in the National Council. The party around Peter Pilz was renamed now - Liste Pilz in December 2018 , Zinggl and Rossmann remained club chairmen. However, after the National Council election on September 29, 2019, the party was no longer represented in the National Council and the Parliamentary Club was dissolved.
