Wolfram Henn

Wolfram Henn (born June 4, 1961 in Saarbrücken ) is a German human geneticist and medical ethicist . He heads the genetic counseling center at Saarland University . He has been Deputy Chairman of the Central Ethics Commission at the German Medical Association since 2013 and a member of the German Ethics Council since 2016 .

Career

After studying human medicine at Saarland University, Henn first received a training grant from the Aktion Sorgekind , then a research grant from the Hedwig Stalter Foundation. In 1996 he completed his habilitation in human genetics, and in 2002 he received the Venia legendi for ethics in medicine. Henn has headed the genetic counseling center at Saarland University in Homburg / Saar since 2004 . His scientific focus is on ethical aspects of human genetics.

Memberships

From 2000 to 2008 Henn was coordinator of the working group “Reproductive Medicine and Embryo Protection” in the Academy for Ethics in Medicine , from 2001 to 2010 member of the board of trustees of the Evangelical Academy of the Palatinate . From 2005 to 2009 he was chairman of the commission for basic positions and ethical questions of the German Society for Human Genetics . From 2009 to 2014 he was a member of the editorial team of the journal Ethik in der Medizin . Henn is a member of the scientific advisory boards of the German Klinefelter Syndrome Association and the German Down Syndrome Infocenter.

He has been a member of the Central Ethics Committee of the German Medical Association since 2007, and has been its deputy chairman since 2013. Henn has been a member of the ethics committee at the Saarland Medical Association since 2016, and in 2016 he was also appointed to the German Ethics Council for a term of office until 2020.
