Wolfram Huschke (musicologist)

Wolfram Huschke (born April 18, 1946 in Weimar ) is a German musicologist.

Huschke's ancestors were doctors who stood in the vicinity of Johann Wolfgang Goethe and Friedrich Schiller and treated them. Wilhelm Ernst Christian Huschke was involved in the Schiller's section and wrote his autopsy report. Wolfram Huschke is the son of the archivist Wolfgang Huschke .

Huschke was a school musician and has been a professor of music didactics at the Liszt School of Music Weimar since 1993. Before that, he received his doctorate in 1977 and his habilitation in 1988 , each in the field of musicology at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg .

From 1993 to 2001 he was rector of the Franz Liszt University of Music, from 1989 to 1997 director of the institute for school music. From 1991 to 1993 he was the Dean's Office for this area. Since 2001 he has been the director of the Franz Liszt Center. Since 1990 Huschke has been Vice President, from 2000 President of the Franz Liszt Society in Weimar. From 1990 to 1993 he was President of the Weimar City Council.

Huschke's main research area is the history of music in Weimar. So he wrote u. a. to Franz Liszt . He was significantly involved in the work " Weimar. Lexicon of City History ".

In 2005 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon. In 2012 he became honorary senator of the Franz Liszt Weimar Academy of Music. In 2014 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Free State of Thuringia.

In his book "Future Music - A History of the Liszt School of Music Weimar", published in 2006, the cooperation between the Weimar School of Music and the Ministry for State Security is not dealt with. The everyday political influence and repression against critics of the SED system are not mentioned.
