Wolfram von Krause

Wolfram von Krause (born February 17, 1914 in Karstenmöis, Estonia , † August 24, 1989 in Moosach ) was a German-Baltic Lutheran theologian and director of the Neuendettelsauer Mission .

life and work

Wolfram von Krause studied theology at the University of Dorpat . In 1937 he passed the first ecclesiastical exam. After graduating, he received his doctorate and was ordained in 1938. In 1939 he became a lecturer in church history in Dorpat and was at the same time pastor-adjunct of the German confessional group of the university community. In 1940 he was appointed to the Protestant Faculty in Poznan . In the same year he accepted a pastor's position in Lettberg in the Gnesen district . After the war, he was taken over in the service of the Bavarian regional church in 1945 . In 1946 he became a mission inspector and first theological teacher at the mission seminar in Neuendettelsau . From Neuendettelsau he published the booklet series Confessing Lutheran Church published by Freimund Verlag . Theologians such as Walter Künneth , Wilhelm Andersen and Eduard Ellwein contributed to this series . Von Krause was given leave of absence in 1957 in order to take up service as general superintendent of the Hermannsburg Mission in South Africa . In 1964 he came back and became mission director of the Neuendettelsau Mission. From 1972 until his retirement in 1982 he was a special representative for ecumenical missionary tasks at the regional church council in Munich.

Wolfram von Krause was a descendant of the architect Johann Wilhelm von Krause .
