The wolf head is a 668.5 m above sea level. NHN high mountain of the Harz low mountain range . It is located near Kamschlacken in the non-parish Harz region of the Göttingen district in Lower Saxony and is the site of the Wolfsklippen .
Geographical location
The wolf head rises in the Upper Harz in the Harz Nature Park about 2.3 km east of Kamschlacken , a northeastern district of Osterode am Harz , and about 5 km south-southwest of the city of Altenau . It lies between the Ifenkopf in the northeast, the Auf dem Acker ridge in the east, southeast and south, the Allerberg in the southwest and the Großer Mittelberg in the northwest. To the north, past the wooded Wolfskopf, the left source brook of the Rhume tributary Söse flows in an east-west direction with the Große Söse .
Wolf cliffs
On the southwest flank of the Wolfskopf is the Wolfsklippen rock formation , which is a designated natural monument . It extends over around 60 meters in altitude (around 580 to 640 m in height) and around 350 m in length.
