The Harz Nature Park ( Lower Saxony ) is located in southern Lower Saxony in the districts of Goslar and Göttingen (formerly Osterode am Harz ). The in resin located Nature Park was established in 1960 and is approximately 790 square kilometers. The regional association Harz is responsible for this . The nature park should not be confused with the much smaller former Harz National Park (Lower Saxony), which was merged with the Harz National Park (Saxony-Anhalt) to form the Harz National Park in 2006 .

The nature park contains the Upper Harz without the Lower Saxon parts of the Harz National Park . Its east and south-east borders are part of the Green Belt Germany . It borders the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park to the east and the Südharz Nature Park to the south-east, with the entire Harz being a large conservation area .

In the Harz Mountains and thus in the nature park, which is characterized by species-rich flora and fauna , there are extensive forests, partly agricultural plateaus, deeply cut valleys with wild rivers and waterfalls, as well as reservoirs and reservoirs . In many places there is evidence of a long settlement history. There are also winter sports areas and the Harz is a hiking area.

The highest point in the Harz Nature Park (Lower Saxony) is the Wurmberg ( 971.2  m above sea  level ).
