The Wollomombi River is a river in the northeast of the Australian state of New South Wales .
geography
The river rises on the eastern slopes of Chandlers Peak in the Great Dividing Range , about 17 kilometers southeast of Guyra.It then flows south through the northern table country of New South Wales to the small town of Wollomombi . From there, the river plunges over the Wollomombi Falls , which are a little west of the Chandler Falls . A little further opens the Wollomombi River at the northern tip of the Oxley Wild Rivers National Park in the Chandler River .

history
The river used to be called Wollomombi Creek or Rockvale Creek .
In December 1904, Nellie Gardiner (18 years old) and Fanny Kennedy (12 years old) drowned while bathing in the Wollomombi River. Another lady, Mrs. Snipe , almost drowned as well trying to save them.
Agriculture
Calves and sheep are raised in the upper reaches of the river.
Hiking trails
From the Wollomombi Falls lookout point, there are beautiful hiking trails along the canyon slopes of the Wollomombi River and Chandler River. A steep hiking trail also leads down to the Chandler River.
