Volodymyr Petrowytsch Sydorenko ( Ukrainian Володимир Петҏович Сидоренко ; born September 23, 1976 in Enerhodar ) is a former Ukrainian professional boxer .

amateur

Sydorenko played 310 fights in his long amateur career, of which he won 290. His first success was winning the 1995 military world championships in flyweight (-51 kg). After another victory at the military world championships in 1997, he won the European championship title in Minsk in 1998 . a. Ağası Məmmədov struck. In the same year a third victory at the military world championships followed, at the world championships the following year, but Sydorenko was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Waldemar Cucereanu , Romania (6-2). In 2000 he won his second European title in Tampere . In the same year he took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney for the Ukraine and after winning over the future professional world champion Daniel Ponce de León , Spain (16: 8), he reached the 1999 vice world champion Omar Andrés Narváez, Argentina (16:10 ), and the bronze medalist of the World Championships Andrzej Rżany , Poland (RSC 3rd), the semifinals. In this he faced the Thai Wijan Ponlid , to whom he was defeated with 14:11 points and thus retired with a bronze medal.

2001 Sydorenko reached the final of the world championships . On the way there he suggested u. a. Maikro Romero , Cuba (21:20), and Georgi Balakschin , Russia (25: 6). In the final he lost to Jérôme Thomas , France (39:29).

Professional career

In 2001, Sydorenko finally switched to the pros and was signed by Universum Box-Promotion . He is trained by Michael Timm . On February 26, 2005, he won the vacant WBA bantamweight title by winning points over the Mexican Julio Zarate , which he lost on May 31, 2008 against Anselmo Moreno from Panama. On May 2, 2009 there was a rematch against Anselmo Moreno. In this second clash, Sindorenko lost again on points. After beating Mbwana Matumla in 2010 and losing to Nonito Donaire , Sydorenko ended his career.

Others

Sydorenko's twin brother Valery was also a successful amateur boxer, he won the European light flyweight championship in 2000, but did not switch to the professional camp.
