Wolokytyne ( Ukrainian Волокитине ; Russian Волокитино Wolokitino ) is a village in the Ukrainian Sumy Oblast with about 500 inhabitants (2001).
In the village, which was first mentioned in writing in 1684, the large landowner Miklaschewskyj established a porcelain factory in the first half of the 19th century . The raw materials required were supplied from local quarries. At the end of 1825, the Decembrist Alexander Friedrich von der Brüggen was arrested in the village .
In the village there is the former manor house of Miklaschewskyj from the 19th century. Another attraction in the village is the Moorish-style Golden Gate , an architectural monument of national importance, which leads to the estate of the landowner Miklaschewskyj .
Wolokytyne was until 2018 the administrative center of the eponymous district municipality in the northwest of Rajon Putyvl to which even the villages Kotscherhy ( Кочерги , ⊙ ) with about 330 inhabitants, Kubarewo ( Кубарево , ⊙ ) with about 80 inhabitants and Schtscherbyniwka ( Щербинівка , ⊙ ) with about 150 inhabitants belonged. Since then the village belongs to the municipality ( Miska hromada ) of Putywl.
The village is located at an altitude of 158 m on the right bank of the 50 km long Esman ( Есмань ) at the confluence with the Klewen ( Клевень ), a 113 km long right tributary of the Seim . Wolokytyne is 17 km north of the Putywl district center and about 115 km northwest of the Sumy oblast center . The regional road P-44 runs nine kilometers east of the village .
