The wreck perch (Polyprionidae) live in the Atlantic and Indo-Pacific , in temperate and subtropical areas. As ambulance hunters, according to their name, they are often found in the cavities of wrecks.
features
They are large, 1.5 to 2.5 meters long animals of the typical perch shape. The head and trunk are covered with small comb scales. Their dorsal fin is clearly notched but not divided and has eleven to twelve hard rays and the same amount of soft rays. The caudal fin ends straight or rounded. The pelvic fins have a very strong fin spine. The lateral line organ is complete. At the upper edge of the gill cover there is an approximately horizontal longitudinal keel that ends in a short sting.
