Wrust is a Botswana death metal band from Gaborone that was formed in 2000.
history
The band was formed in the winter of 2000. By 2002, the line-up of the band changed several times, so guitarist and singer Stux Daemon was the only remaining founding member. At the beginning of 2002 Dem Lord Master came to the cast as drummer. Bassist SBond was another member of the band. At the end of the year, BG joined as a further guitarist. Various appearances followed, including in 2003 at the Gaborone Beer Fest, the University of Botswana Freshers Ball in 2002 and 2005 and the Rock Against AIDS. In 2003 the band recorded their first demo called Mirth of Sorrow , which was never released for quality reasons. The band took part in a Battle of Bands in Durban , where the group took second place and thereby won a new drum kit. Through the competition, the band was also able to increase its level of awareness; as a result, she opened for Sepultura in Durban on September 3, 2003 . Towards the end of the year, the band headlined the Witchfest Festival in Johannesburg . On January 23 and 24, 2004 she played with Konkhra and on April 16 with Entombed . In 2005, guitarist BG and bassist SBond Wrust left. Damon DO joined the line-up as the new bass player. In 2006 further appearances followed together with local groups like Stealth, Stane and Nodd. After that, the band worked on their debut album. The album was recorded within four days in the Bizac Studio in Midrand and later remixed and mastered in the WDR Studio in Durban. The release was initially planned for April 7, 2007, but was postponed by storms and floods and the resulting power outages in the Durban area, so that the printing of the CD covers and booklets had to be interrupted and the publication was on April 14. April postponed. In 2008, Ben Phaks Mophakedi joined the band as another guitarist. In early 2009, the band began work on their second album. The second album, Intellectual Metamorphosis, followed in 2013 .
style
The band plays classic death metal, although the group is the only known, completely dark-skinned band from the extreme metal area of Africa. In addition to typical death metal bands like Cannibal Corpse , songs like Destiny of Fate are reminiscent of the early Metallica . Influences from Thrash Metal and New Wave of British Heavy Metal are also audible.
