Wulfpäck is a German thrash metal band.

history

The band was founded as a quartet in Coburg in 2013 and released the demo recording Enter the Pack in the same year . The EP Pork was released on October 11, 2014, self-published or via Bandcamp .

In March 2016 the band went into the studio to record five pieces for a new EP. At the end of 2016, however, two founding members left the group and a new drummer joined them. In the following year the trio recorded five more pieces. In the summer of 2018 Violent Creek Records released the ten numbers as a full music album War Ain't Over! on the market. Vagelis Maranis (including Traitor ) acted as the responsible producer , who also recorded bass tracks and guest guitar solos. Stefan Dittrich took over the drums as a guest musician.

In July 2018, around a month before the album was released, the band released their first video for the song Cannabusiness , in which Lorenz Kandolf from the band Traitor can be seen on bass.

In December 2018, the band announced that Lorenz Kandolf is now a permanent bassist with Wulfpäck and that Armano Persau is the group's new drummer.

style

The band plays “classic Thrash of the modern times, combined with hardcore parts, based on the heroes of that time”, which means “various Bay Area acts”. Specifically, the band relies on “the finest high-speed riffing”, with “cool groove passages” for loosening up. Nuclear Assault and Municipal Waste are repeatedly cited as references . The names of Traitor and Lost Society or Megadeth and DRI are also mentioned

The singing is reminiscent of Marcel “Lubricating” Schirmer from Destruction in places , while the group's lyrics are mainly socially critical.

reception

For the debut album War Ain't Over , the reviewer from metal.de stated:

"If you have anything to do with Crossover Thrash, you shouldn't miss this disc."

- Dominik Rothe : metal.de

Jürgen Tschamler from streetclip.de was equally positive :

"WULFPÄCK has made an impressive Thrash Metal debut, which certainly does not receive an innovation award, but is a real gem of the German Thrash Metal scene due to its fast-paced and brutal playing style."

- Jürgen Tschamler : streetclip.de
