Fragile
The Fragant is a left side valley of the Mölltal in the Goldberg group in Carinthia . Its side valleys are the Wurten , the Kleinfragant and the Großfragant .
The valley lies in the municipality of Flattach in the cadastral municipality of Fragant, most of which it occupies. It is drained by the Fragantbach. The Fragantbach has a catchment area of 69.7 km², which is almost entirely within the Fragant Valley.
The Fragant valley is a typical trough valley with a clearly shaped valley head where Wurten and Kleinfragant are united. Innerfragant occupies the ground. The Großfragant joins a little below on the right. then the valley narrows in order to overcome the difference in altitude to the Mölltal in a notch. In the bottom of the Mölltal, at the exit of the Fraganttal, is the village of Ausserfragant.
A significant part of the facilities of the Fragant power plant group is located in the Fragant , but it extends far beyond the valley, into the Fleißtal and the Kreuzeck group .
Only the Innerfragant (64 inhabitants) is permanently inhabited. The side valleys are used for alpine farming and tourism. Historically, the framing and mining played a role, especially copper mining in the Großfragant , which was temporarily in the hands of the rammers .
The highest mountain is the Schareck on the Tauern main chain. On its southwest flank is the Wurtenkees, the only glacier in the valley. A well-known hiking destination is the Sadnig .
