The Sadnig - in contrast to the sub-peaks Vorsadnig , Kleiner Sadnig and Mulleter Sadnig, also called Hoher Sadnig - is the eponymous mountain of the Sadnig group , the southern part of the Goldberg group .
The name Sadnig can be traced back to the Slovenian zadnji ( backward or last ).
The Sadnig is located at the intersection of Großfragant , Asten and Kolmitzen , three side valleys of the Mölltal . At the same time it is the border point of the communities Flattach , Mörtschach and Stall .
The Vorsadnig is a northern pre-summit at 2696 m. The Kleine Sadnig (2626 m) connects to the east after an inconspicuous gorge. The Mullete Sadnig (2569 m) connects to the north, separated from the Hohe Sadnig by the Sadnigscharte (2484 m). To the west under the Sadnigscharte (Astener side) lies the Sadnigsee. The Sadnigbach rises to the east under the Sadnigscharte and merges into the Großfragantbach out of the valley.
The final scene of the film Seven Years in Tibet was shot on the Sadnig summit.
The Sadnig is mostly approached from the Fraganter Schutzhaus in the Großfragant or the Gasthof Sadnighaus (a former Alpine Club hut ) in the Asten over the Sadnigscharte.
