(13952) Nykvist is an asteroid of the inner main belt , which was discovered on September 22, 1990 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory in Chile ( IAU code 809).
The rotation period of (13952) Nykvist was investigated from several observatories in 2009 and 2015. However, the light curves were not sufficient for a determination.
The asteroid was named on May 14, 2014 after the Swedish cameraman and film director Sven Nykvist (1922-2006). Nykvist won Oscars for Best Camera for Screams and Whispers (1974) and Fanny and Alexander (1984), both films by director Ingmar Bergman . The asteroid of the outer main belt (10378), also discovered by Eric Walter Elst, was named Ingmarbergman after Ingmar Bergman on March 20, 2000 .
