Fleißtal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fleißtal is a high mountain valley in the Hohe Tauern National Park in the Austrian state of Carinthia near Heiligenblut . It is divided into the Große Fleißtal and the Kleiner Fleißtal .

Surname

The valley got its name from the small diligence or the large diligence crossing the corresponding valley .

location

The Fleißtal is a left side valley of the Mölltal . It is in the west of the Goldberg group . Neighboring valleys are the Guttal (with Tauerntal) upstream and the Zirknitztal downstream . The Rauris (including Kolm-Saigurn ) connects on the Salzburg side above the main Alpine ridge .

Great Fleißtal

You can get to the Große Fleißtal from the Großglockner High Alpine Road and then follow a steep mountain path to the Fleißalm ( 1809  m ), which is the center of the “Fleißalm ski area” located there. In addition, the Große Fleißtal can be reached with the “Tunnelbahn Fleißalm”, which is only in operation in winter and leads from the middle station of the Schareck via Heiligenblut to the Fleißalm. On a relatively flat path, you can go down to the valley head, to the Otto-Umlauft-Bivouac box of the OeAV and on the Hocharn . In addition, a path branches off to the Schareck. Marmots , chamois , bearded vultures and golden eagles as well as deer can be seen on the mountain slopes of the Großer Fleißtal .

Small Fleißtal

The Kleine Fleißtal can be reached almost like the Große Fleißtal, only there is no tunnel railway here. Here, among other things, gold mining took place with the help of the so-called stick mills , which the "Alter Pocher " show gold mine reminds of. In good weather you can also see the Fleißkees.

Zirmsee

In the small Fleiß is the Zirmsee , originally a natural mountain lake , which was included in the Fragant power plant group and expanded for this purpose by a dam .

At the end of the Kleiner Fleißtal valley lies the Sonnblick with the Zittelhaus and the Sonnblick observatory .
