WWTV is a private regional broadcaster in northern Rhineland-Palatinate . The common broadcasting center of the two regional broadcasters TV Mittelrhein and WWTV is the media company in Urbar near Koblenz . The operator is DRF Deutschland Fernsehen Produktions GmbH & Co. KG.
history
The television station WWTV was founded in 1994.
In November 2000, three regional television stations in northern Rhineland-Palatinate, Kanal 10, WWTV and MYK-TV, merged to form a new station "TVT1". However, the merger did not bring the expected benefits and the new station ran into financial difficulties and in 2003 the two remaining stations went their separate ways again to focus their programs on their respective regions.
In 2008 the neighboring regional broadcaster TV Mittelrhein participated in WWTV. From June of the same year to December 2012, both programs could be received across Europe via the Astra 1M satellite. In 2010 the headquarters of the company was relocated from Ransbach-Baumbach to the Urbar on the right bank of the Rhine and thus geographically still part of the Westerwald , as broadcasting has been from a common media company since 2009. On February 1, 2013, the business was transferred to the newly founded DRF Deutschland Fernsehen Produktions GmbH & Co. KG . Under the current and regional guidelines , the television content was redesigned in order to appeal to younger audiences.
The program could be received via satellite via Astra 1N at 19.2 ° East (frequency 12,663 horizontal, symbol rate 22,000, transponder 115). The programs from L-TV Baden-Württemberg, TV Mittelrhein and WWTV alternate. Satellite broadcasting ceased in 2016.
program
The current program starts daily at 6:00 p.m. and is repeated for 24 hours. Current regional news from the Westerwald-Wied area is broadcast every full and half hour. The program is moderated u. a. by Katrin Wolf, Martin Specht and Martin Schultheiß.
The service of the station also includes the production of advertising, image and educational films.
Reception and range
WWTV can be received regionally in analog and digital form via Vodafone's cable networks . Due to the different bandwidths for the signal feed to the individual sub-networks, the time of the daily broadcast start can vary depending on where you live. The distribution area in the northern Rhineland-Palatinate covers Westerwaldkreis , district of Neuwied , district Altenkirchen , Rhein-Lahn-Kreis and parts of the district Mayen-Koblenz . This corresponds to approx. 168,000 cable households and a technical range (according to information provided by the company) of approx. 487,000 viewers. The main use is in prime time (7 to 8 p.m.). During this period almost 30% of the viewers tuned into wwtv, the main users belong to the age group Best Agers (50 to 59 years, 45%).
