Wyten ( Ukrainian Витень ; Russian Витень Witen , Polish Witeń ) is a Ukrainian village in the Volyn Oblast with about 90 inhabitants (2001).
Geographical location
The village belongs to the district council of Vysochne which also includes the villages of Vysochne ( Височне ), Beresa ( Береза ) and Wyschytschno ( Вижично ). Wyten is located south of a swamp area near the border with Belarus , which runs in the north. The district capital Ratne is 22 kilometers south and the oblast capital Lutsk 138 kilometers southeast of the village.
history
Until 1918/21 the village belonged to the Russian Empire and was located in the Volhynian Governorate , after which it fell to Poland and became part of the Volhynian Voivodeship (Powiat Kowel, Gmina Górniki). As a result of the Hitler-Stalin Pact , the Soviet Union occupied the area. After the German attack on the Soviet Union in June 1941, the place was under German rule in the Reichskommissariat Ukraine until 1944 . After the Second World War , the village came back to the Soviet Union , was incorporated into the Ukrainian SSR and has belonged to the independent Ukraine since the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
