Wythop is a municipality in the Borough of Allerdale the county of Cumbria in England .
geography
The administrative unit is located in the Lake District between Cockermouth and Keswick , two kilometers from the hamlets of Dubwath in the parish of Setmurthy and Wythop Mill in Embleton .
Lookout point and structures
The Beck Wythop promontory was selected by Thomas West as one of his four "stops" for viewing Bassenthwaite Lake .
There are a total of five buildings in the municipality, which are registered in the National Heritage List for England. Including Wythop Hall , a manor house and the associated stables, date from the mid-16th century. In addition, there is a former fort at the top of Castle How, a rocky hill that rises steeply above the west bank of Bassenthwaite Lake .
